I am going to start by saying that this is a book I recommend highly! In documenting her transitions, both personal and in relation to her ministry, April Stace gives us a riveting account of her own internal struggles and growth. However, while this book is certainly about her, it is really a book for others as well. In her writing, she both models what it really means to be self reflective and, in exploring her own struggles and challenges, she gives readers room to reflect on their own.
Several things really stand out as strengths in this book. first of all, she is a wonderful writer, Secondly, she is straightforward and honest. about her life and the struggles and questions that accompany it. Finally, though it IS about her, it is also a text that invites the self reflection of the reader, even if the reader’s issues and questions are not specifically the same as the author’s. It’s a book that oozes with honesty. It is a really powerful piece of writing!
